Lessons for 6–8 year olds are designed to be interactive, varied and age-appropriate. While every lesson can be adapted to the individual child, a typical lesson might follow this structure.
We begin with a short activity to get your child's imagination going, such as a storytelling game, character challenge, vocabulary activity or imaginative question.

We'll focus on one creative writing skill, such as creating characters, describing settings, choosing interesting vocabulary or developing a story.
Before writing, we'll develop the idea. Children might create their character, choose where the story takes place or decide what problem their character needs to solve.
Now it's time to put those ideas into words. Depending on their age and ability, children might write a few sentences, a scene, a short story or another creative piece.
We'll look at the writing together, celebrate what they've done well and explore opportunities to add detail, improve vocabulary or develop their ideas further.
